    Founder and Chief Executive Officer

    Matt is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of FourKites. Matt is an innovative and thoughtful leader, recognizing painpoints in the logistics industry and designing elegant and effective systems to address them. His vision for the product and the team have defined FourKites’ success and provide focused direction for continued growth.

    Prior to founding FourKites, Matt spent 7 years in the enterprise software space working for market leaders such as Oracle Corp and i2 Technologies/JDA Software Group. Matt has led high-impact teams that implemented logistics strategies and systems at P&G, Nestle, Kraft, Anheuser-Busch Inbev, Tyco, Argos and Nokia across North America, Western Europe and Latin America. Matt is passionate about logistics and supply chain management and has a keen sense of how technology can disrupt the traditional silo-based planning and execution.

    Matt lives in Chicago and holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from College of Engineering, Guindy, an MS in Industrial Engineering and Management Science from Northwestern University and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management.

    Ajay Agarwal

    Board Member, Managing Director, Bain Capital Ventures

    Ajay has been a Board Member at FourKites since October 2016. He also leads the Bay Area offices for Bain Capital Ventures, where he focuses on early-stage application software and SaaS investing. Prior to joining Bain Capital Ventures in 2003, Ajay was head of sales and marketing at Trilogy, where he grew annual revenues to $300 million. Previously, Ajay was a consultant with the Los Angeles office of McKinsey & Company.

    Ajay has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Ajay also holds a patent for the “Method and Apparatus of Configuration Solutions.”

    At Bain Capital Ventures, Ajay’s passion is working with early-stage founders on team-building, culture, iteration of product market fit, and scaling the early go-to-market operations. His primary investment themes include commerce enablement, the revolution of the sales and marketing functions, and the use of big data, and machine learning to transform business applications. In 2012 and 2013, Ajay was named to the Forbes Midas List of Top 100 Venture Capital Investors.

    Joe Beatty

    Board Member, Advisor and Interim Executive

    Joe Beatty has been a board member and investor at FourKites since April of 2015. He is also the chairman of the Edward Hospital Board of Trustees on which he had served since 2004. Earlier in his career, he was a securities analyst and held numerous technical management positions for a local telecom services provider. In 2014, he was appointed to serve as a member of the board of directors of SITO Mobile LTD a technology-based mobile media solutions provider. He is also the chairperson of SITO Mobile’s Audit Committee, and a member of its Compensation Committee and Nominating and Governance Committee.

    Joe is the former President and CEO of Telular Corporation, a publicly held provider of wireless monitoring solutions headquartered in Chicago.  Joe holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois as well as an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Joe belongs to the Economic Club of Chicago and was awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year award from Ernst & Young.

    Board Member, Venture Capitalist and Professor

    Ira is a founder of Hyde Park Venture Partners and a professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he teaches entrepreneurship and tax strategy. Ira has been actively investing in private companies for the past 15 years and has made over 125 venture capital and angel investments. Prior to his role at Hyde Park Venture Partners, Ira was a managing director of RK Ventures, a NY based pledge fund. Ira’s primary investing interests are technology-enabled consumer and business services and healthcare IT. 

    Ira currently serves on various boards as a director or observer, including FourKites, Parkwhiz, and ShipBob. Previously, Ira was on the board of Concerro (sold to API Healthcare) and also a board member or an observer at Ahalogy, G2Crowd and Streamlink Software.  His most notable prior investments include Rackspace, Avid Radiopharmaceuticals (sold to Eli Lilly), Edusoft (sold to Houghton Mifflin), and Axioma. Ira started his career as an accountant at Coopers and Lybrand, and received both his MBA and Ph.D. from the Booth School of Business.

    Founder and Former CEO, Fieldglass

    Jai Shekhawat is the Founder and former CEO of Fieldglass, a cloud platform for the management of contingent labor and services. Under his leadership, Fieldglass grew globally with users in 100+ countries in 30 languages and emerged as the largest firm in the world in the fast growing vendor management software category. He was Ernst & Young’s 2012 Midwest “Entrepreneur of the Year” as well as the 2012 recipient of the Peter Yessne Staffing Innovator Award, recognized for pioneering the Vendor Management Software (VMS) space. Fieldglass was also recognized as the Illinois Venture Capital Association’s 2014 Private Equity Portfolio Company of the Year and has received many other awards. The company was acquired by SAP in 2014.

    Jai is a former strategy consultant with McKinsey & Company where he served clients in areas of corporate strategy, technology and cross-border alliances. He is also a former senior executive at Syntel, a software services firm in Michigan and the co-founder of Quinnox, an application outsourcing firm in Chicago, Illinois.

    Jai is a Trustee of the Field Museum of Chicago, serves on the Board of 1871 (Chicago’s entrepreneurial hub for digital startups), on Governor Rauner’s Illinois Council for Innovation and is a member of the Commercial Club and the Commonwealth Club of Chicago. He is an adviser to Starvest Partners, a New York based venture capital firm and serves as an Advisory Board Chairman for Madison Dearborn Partners, a private equity firm based in Chicago. He currently serves on the Boards of Signal, Semantify, Fleet Complete, Highground, Utopia, HealthEngine, Four Kites and OfficeLuv along with being an investor and adviser to many high growth firms. He is a founding member of the Firestarter Fund, which mentors and invests in Chicago startups. He has previously served on the Mayor’s Council of Technology Advisers, the Technology Membership Committee of the Economic Club of Chicago, the Board of Tie-Midwest and the Board of MetroSquash.  He is a frequent speaker on entrepreneurship and strategy at the Kellogg and Booth Business Schools as well as at various industry events.

    Jai holds an MBA with specializations in finance and strategy from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, and a bachelor’s degree in management science from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in Pilani, India.
