FourKites Launches Certification Program to Help Shippers and 3PLs Recommend ELD Partners That Facilitate Seamless Data Sharing

Equips shippers and 3PLs to help their carriers navigate new visibility data requirements to meet end customer expectations

CHICAGO, Nov. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — FourKites, the market leader in end-to-end supply chain visibility for shippers and 3PLs, today launched a program to help shippers and 3PLs recommend to their carriers modern ELD (Electronic Logging Device) providers, built on open architecture platforms, ahead of the FMCSA’s rapidly approaching December 18th ELD mandate start date.

FourKites believes this initiative will encourage shippers and 3PLs to help their carriers select ELD providers that comply with industry standards and support direct data sharing. By contrast, carriers that implement a closed architecture ELD solution may struggle to meet shipper and 3PL visibility requirements. The FourKites platform and APIs were specifically designed for ELD integrations, providing superior ETA accuracy and reliability.

FourKites is the trusted real-time visibility platform for some of the largest shippers and 3PLs, including Kraft Heinz, Smithfield Foods, U.S. Foods, Ryder and Schneider, tracking more than $40B in freight under management.

“Our customers are constantly seeking to enhance the productivity of their partner carriers. A broad, open and flexible ELD partner network is crucial to making that happen,” said Craig Fiander, Senior Vice President, Global Business Development for FourKites. “This innovative program will help guide our customers to recommend the ELD and telematics providers that allow carriers to easily access and share the location data. Ultimately, this enhances their end customer satisfaction and appointment compliance.”

Carriers deploying a FourKites-certified ELD can reduce dwell times and detention costs and provide dynamic real-time ETAs for all types of multimodal loads and equipment to their shipper customers. At no cost, FourKites will certify ELD providers based on four categories:

  • Data quality – provides secure and continuously updated real-time flow of, at a minimum, location information
  • Data accessibility – enables customers to access high-quality data without paying add-on integration, support or other fees
  • Operational integrity – values integrity in practices around customer data
  • Customer value – prioritizes customer success and works collaboratively to help customers achieve maximum value
